I would be curious to know if you really feel the punishment fits the crime, in this case, or if you feel like these people should just be thrown to the dogs.
One of the people involved lost an entire business and property which is unrelated to the charges. Federal seizure laws make it difficult if not impossible to retrieve property seized in this fashion. Do we really want the police to be able to take whatever they want any time they are investigating a crime, do what they want with it (including sell it), and never give it back? Someone who uncaps their cable modem is violating an agreement that they made with the provider. They are also stealing bandwidth from all of the other honest users. And, theft of service is a Federal offense. I have absolutely no sympathy for these people... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Haggerty, Mike" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, November 22, 2002 1:15 PM Subject: RE: Anyone Seen This Yet? > Right... > > So if I stick an apple in my jacket at the grocery store and leave without > paying for it, 12 armed FBI agents should show up at my house, arrest me, > and seize all of my jackets and some shoes to boot? > > Something's rotten in Toldeo. > > M > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Get the mailserver that powers this list at http://www.coolfusion.com Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
