Heard on the radio yesterday that a local reporter is working on a story about the
"Rainbow Man", the guy who used to show up on all the sporting events holding the John
3:16 signs. He's currently serving 3 life sentences for holding a maid hostage in a
hotel room. His demands? A three hour news conference so he could explain why the
world was coming to an end. Makes you wonder who had the influence to get three life
sentences for him when he never actually hurt anyone ... sounds like the same as this
case, political power affecting law enforcement ...

I would be curious to know if you really feel the punishment fits the crime,
in this case, or if you feel like these people should just be thrown to the
dogs.

One of the people involved lost an entire business and property which is
unrelated to the charges. Federal seizure laws make it difficult if not
impossible to retrieve property seized in this fashion.

Do we really want the police to be able to take whatever they want any time
they are investigating a crime, do what they want with it (including sell
it), and never give it back?

Someone who uncaps their cable modem is violating an agreement that they
made with the provider. They are also stealing
bandwidth from all of the other honest users. And, theft of service is a
Federal offense.

I have absolutely no sympathy for these people...
