> I agree with you, Ben - eat healthy and exercise. I have seen lots of people go on this diet and when all of them have gone off it they've put all of their weight back on. My Aunt recently decided to go on this diet.
You understand its not supposed to be a "diet". Its supposed to be a way of eating, forever. If I go on weight watchers and then stop and go back to how I was eating before, I will also gain the weight back. Both programs, low carb ones and weight watchers have a maintenance phase, that one needs to perform to maintain weight loss. >My Uncle is a Doctor and works nights so he does all of their grocery shopping while she's working during the day. When she >told him she wanted to go on this he explained all of the possible long term health risks and then said he refuses to buy her any >food associated with the diet and that she will have to make her own separate trips to the grocery store. So, there seems to >still be a lot of people in the medical profession who just don't buy that it's healthy for you... Sure!! its counter intuitive to medical science, but that doesn't mean its unhealthy or that it doesnt' work. > Atkins also backed the latest study that has people saying it's ok so I think it's going to take another study, with no financial >backing by Atkins, to really make people feel comfortable with it. There have been a couple actually that confirm his findings. Have them somewhere, will post at some time. Recognize that the Atkins Diet is one form of low carb dieting. His book is kind of silly and not particularly scientific. There is nothing MAGICAL about the weight loss from low carbing - fat makes one feel full and one eats less. Also some folks are insulin resistant and have problems eating carbs - they eat them and their insulin levels rise and they then have to eat again to use that up. I started low carbing after my diabetic mother (who is the most well informed patient in the universe) read Dr Bernsteins book for diabetics. My mom lost weight for the first time in many years (insulin dependent diabetics have a hard time losing) on this diet and her blood sugar levels were lower than ever - she was able to eventually stop taking insulin for a period of time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
