I've no idea... It could be purely legal protection it may not be... Who knows. I don't really follow the church personally, but I have heard many reports that collections and donations have been drastically cut in the past years. The lack oftrust due to the scandel, funds being redirected after September 11th, a general decrease in attendance, etc. The church may not be as wealthy as it once was...
