A few things, Larry.

  1. Were the guys who wrote our Constitution idiots? No. Why would they use
the term "the people" in every other amendment to mean the individual and
then use it in the Second Amendment to mean the State? These were purposeful
people.

  2. Why does a "state" need to be free? It's the people that are free, not
the State. The State is a subject of the people's will. It has no rights, it
can not be free.

  3. States don't have rights. The government has no rights. The government
can only do those things we authorize it to do. Rights are inherent to
individuals only.
