Actually what you get for the fee is content updates. New Levels to download and in the future plans for new gear etc in games.
I would also imagine that at some point that will want to update "drivers" or there will be software / OS updates for the console and those will be delivered over the LIVE service as well I believe. As far as which system to buy . . . I have an Xbox and I LOVE it. The game catalog is growing fast and some wicked things on the way. Splinter Cell owns as does Steel Battalion. Blood Rayne is killer. Halo 2 coming. Sega GT is a really cool racing game. As far as power? Xbox is listed in the 2003 Guinness Book as the world's most powerful gaming system. Also, Xbox is the only console that supports Dolby Digital I believe. In addition to that Xbox is the only console with a Progressive Scan DvD player if I remember correctly, which means when games are able to do higher than normal TV resolution (a fair amount can already do 480p), such as 1080p the Xbox will be the only system that will take advantage of it. PS2 is an inferior machine in my book, although their game catalog is larger I am ready for some NEW game concepts not yet another version of Final Fantasy. All this I just my opinion though..=) Take it for what it's worth. -chris -----Original Message----- From: Haggerty, Mike [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, December 31, 2002 10:22 AM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: Xbox or Gamecube Microsoft charges a subscription fee for online gaming. Right now it runs about the price of a game. There is no similar charge for using the PS2 console you paid for to go online to enjoy the games you paid for. The word 'tax' is used here, mostly because it is a charge for a service for which you receive almost nothing. Microsoft could be charging $.25 a year for a subscription and still make a profit, and in that way it is difficult to justify the charge. This just looks like greed to me, and I will not pay it. And I could care less what people pay to play Everquest over a year! Those people are getting reamed as well. Blizzard does not charge you to play multiplayer Warcraft, which is better than most of what they have on the XBOX. What makes M$ so great? M -----Original Message----- From: Erika L.
