I don't think anybody disputes the system that awarded electoral votes
to either Bush or Gore, but rather the judgement of the Supreme Court in
making a ruling that did not allow for a complete count of the popular
vote in Florida.

I personally believe that Jeb Bush had a LOT to do with the fiasco that
occurred in Florida - miscounted, lost, discarded votes, and the
confusion on how to vote in particular counties, although there were a
number of random occurances that also worked in W's favor.

I live down here in the "Good Ol' Boy" south, and I know for a fact that
down here (Florida included) , major political decisions happen a lot
more in somebody's living room or car here than it does in the
statehouse.

The laws in place long before the election created the rules, and going
by the rules Bush won the election.

The government is a republic; he is the President of the United States,
not the president of the people. Don't protest him being elected,
protest the system. The system is what creates this.

Clinton didn't get a majority of the vote in his first election either.
It was fairly even between him and Bush, but neither got more than 50%.
Did the republicans protest in the streets, no because that was the
system that the framers created, I think it is a good system and we
should stick with it.

If the rest of the country disagrees, then fine, but don't say Bush
cheated, the rules are clear, everybody knew them before the election
started.
