Interesting article at this time. Bush wants to say that things like quotas do not help racial bias, they only hurt it. Which in general I would agree with, I have spoken with a number of people who feel they lost a job or promotion simply because the person who got the job was a minority, true or not, they still think this is the case, and this is a form of racism. This perpetuates ideas of racism. If we removed the rules, then that would remove that complaint from their argument. Now Daschle, in all his wisdom, has determined that because Bush is going to say this, that he is not on the side of civil rights and diversity. My question, how does enforced quotas and preferential treatment for any group no matter what the reason (except previous achievement (GPA, Test Scores, etc) do any thing to promote diversity? It seems to me that such actions, while well founded and with good intentions do nothing but create more problems. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
