Although the Flash looks great, I'd lose it.

Basically you've got two pages before you get the site. You get the
flash intro, then a "big" menu screen ("Home"). Then you get to the
"real" menu and content pages. Neither of the first two are needed, I
think.

I'd start on that third level "inner" page. You might put the flash
from the front on one of those pages (it does look great, it's just not
useful). Get right ot the meat of things. It's a rule of thumb that
you lose 50% of visitors for every click you force them to make.
(Although in this case, such a topic-focused site, I think it would be
much less.)

In that vein you might want to make some content assumptions: why are
most people coming to the site? If it's, for example, maintenance then
give that special attention on the front page. If you can, even a
little bit, predict people's needs they'll remember it (just ask John
Edward). I used to do a seminar/class/thing at work about "Cold Reading
on the Web", I truly believe it works.

I'd also considering moving the "Home" link to the top of the list (it's
generally expected to be there). The upper-left hand corner, the "sweet
spot", is left blank - it's a design decision, but people have gotten
very used to seeing "click-to-home" logos there.

Lastly - and this is just personal preference - you've got a lot of
scipt on the site, you might want to consider placing it in an external
.JS file. This would improving speed/caching on the site since the
script will be downloaded once and cached.

Yup, I'm a picky bastard. But I also wouldn't have replied at all if I
didn't like it. Only spend time on those things worth fixing. ;^)
