It seems extremely simple to me. If you have a small fire in a huge forest full of dry timber, do you wait until the fire engulfs the whole forest before acting, or do you throw a bucket of water on it?
I just thought of something though, ecologically I think we are supposed to let the fires burn so that the fuel in the underbrush doesnt build up to a dangerous level. Am I right on this?
