<repost of apparently-failed email, with additional question> question re: WAPs etc. - I just put in a Netgear FM114P upstairs -- 5-in-1 firewall, router, switch, WAP, and print server at too cheap a price to pass up. Works fine. Have wired Ethernet downstairs. Want to add Netgear ME102 WAP to bridge wired-to-wireless and extend wireless range to the other end of the house. But am using 128-bit encryption. Netgear docs say that part of the encryption key is factory-set. I can't get a straight answer out of Netgear tech support on whether entering the same "Key1" value on both units will generate the same 128-bit key; i.e., is the "factory set" value going to be a problem? Figured if Netgear didn't know, this list probably would! :-) -Ben
============ additional question: if the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) security is a problem across multiple units, would I still be "secure" from intrusions from outside the house since I am using the "restrict access to trusted pc's only" option for the wireless side, and plugged in the MAC address of my WiFi card? Thanx -Ben ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
