The Shadow was a comic book character from the '40s (I think that was the date). It was also a serialized radio drama and recently a movie starring Alec Baldwin.
The Shadow is the alter ego of Lamont Cranston, a playboy with a penchant for sticking his nose into other people's business. He learned the mystical ability to cloud men's minds and uses this ability to become The Shadow.
