Gotcha. Couldn't agree more. And nothing I write below reduces that truth.
But even at the upper estimates, the loss of civilian life has been less than a "normal" week in Iraq I think. The folks that usually kill the civilians are having to split their aim to include people who aim back now. Estimates have put the number killed or disappeared at upwards of 150,000 in the last 11 years. The numbers are thought to be higher before the first Gulf War. That's some 13,000 a year, or 1000 a month. At the same time, I truly hope that this world never develops "perfect" weapons. The only things that keeps us (meaning the US and allies) from engaging in such behavior more often than we do is the knowledge that innocents _will_ be hurt. My view is that whether it was our bomb or Saddam's forces using the people as shields, the end result is that a civilian is dead. I am not trying to push an agenda, even if the site is. I am merely acknowledging and mourning the loss of a life caught in the crossfire. -Kevin > -----Original Message----- > From: Jerry Johnson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Thursday, April 03, 2003 3:12 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: RE: Iraq Body Count > > > Kevin, > > You should reread the purpose of the site.
