Tim, Why only men? What ever happened to equal rights?
And why only able bodied men? Not everyone may be cut out for forced marches, but many roles do not require well-developed arches or the ability to carry an 80 lb pack. If your equation is correct (rights=responsibility), then I think you need to carry it to the logic conclusion. Everyone needs to pull their weight. Jerry Johnson >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 06/03/03 03:55PM >>> I won't tell you what I really think should have been done to draft dodgers. You have rights. With those rights come responsibilities. The military, (the militia in constitutional terms, and the impetus for the draft) is made of all able bodied males between the ages of 18 and 45. Therefore as far as I am concerned, your politics don't matter. Your religion doesn't matter. Your color doesn't matter. If you are a male citizen of the United States of America you should be able to be called to war. If you don't show then you should be banned from the country and stripped of your citizenship. That is the only crime for which I think taking away ones citizenship is appropriate.
