I don't think that anybody who did not live through that awful period of American history called the Vietnam era can judge somebody's reasoning as to whether or not to perform military service when it means going to that country.
Taken to mean I am not going to say that draft dodgers are right or wrong but rather that I as a 31 year old man should not impose my 2000 era morals on a 1960s judgement call. I won't tell you what I really think should have been done to draft dodgers. You have rights. With those rights come responsibilities. The military, (the militia in constitutional terms, and the impetus for the draft) is made of all able bodied males between the ages of 18 and 45. Therefore as far as I am concerned, your politics don't matter. Your religion doesn't matter. Your color doesn't matter. If you are a male citizen of the United States of America you should be able to be called to war. If you don't show then you should be banned from the country and stripped of your citizenship. That is the only crime for which I think taking away ones citizenship is appropriate.
