Interesting that Texas publishes the requests.  But Texas does not always comply
with the requests.
In testimony before the state legislature, officials said that no meals outside
of the regular items normally supplied are given to death row inmates.  For
instance there are no seafood items in prison diets.
Cheese and butter, of course, comes from federal commodity programs, and the
hamburger they procure is the 30% soy product.
In fact the majority of food items served to Texas inmates are raised on their
own prison operated farms, and canned in prison owned canneries.  They raise
their own produce, cattle and pork as well.
