Something else that I forgot to mention is that weblogs are almost always in some way personal, almost by definition. People blog content that they find interesting: an article, idea, maybe a dream they had. By reading someone's blog on a regular basis, you are on some level connecting with them, because the two of you find the same things interesting. I recently started a personal weblog (www.sparkshop.com) where I write about gadgets and various types of electronics, but I also always include my perspective or opinion on what I'm writing about. Newspapers pretend to be objective, but blogs typically make no such pretense. They are almost always outwardly and unapologetically subjective and opinionated, which in my opinion makes them a lot more fun.
