Unfortunately, as is proven time and time again, there are too many people that don't have common sense, respect, or whatever you want to call it. People are people, some are good and some are bad. The libertarian approach is wonderful if all people are good and respect each other. But we all know that's not the case.
Smoking around non-smokers at a resturaunt is a perfect example. Polite people would put out their cigarettes because they know that it is affecting other people negatively and as such is impolite and rude. But that doesn't happen. Philosophically, I completely agree with the libertarian stance of individual responsibility. In reality though I just don't see people, libertarians included, being responsible and respectful enough to justify an unmitigated adoption of the philosophy. Actions speak louder than words. Sad, really. -Kevin > -----Original Message----- > From: Nagy, Daniel J [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2003 10:51 AM > To: CF-Community > Subject: RE: woo hoo > > > and in a capitalist society, what moron would go to a > restaurant that would claim otherwise? > > we don't need someone to monitor the quality of the food > served in a society with common sense. if a retuarant owner > servers rotten dog as meatloaf, not only is he setting > himself up for lawsuits, but will most likely lose his business. > > just as when i go to denny's once in a moon, i don't expect > high quality dining, but i do expect 'good' food. > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Nick McClure [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2003 11:48 AM > To: CF-Community > Subject: RE: woo hoo > > > Where is there a claim for good food, if they make the claim > that they will serve good food then sure. > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Nagy, Daniel J [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2003 11:37 AM > > To: CF-Community > > Subject: RE: woo hoo > > > > it's not even implied. you are giving "money" to the restaurant in > > return for a "good" meal. > > > > it's factual. they are the axioms of the statement. > > > > nothing too difficult about this. > > > > > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
