I generally agree about it being dangerous... and I don't think the issue was (or was expressed) really such as "exposing children to sex" ... but rather not spending all our time trying to prevent their being exposed. Let them get exposure when and where they'll get exposure (without forcing it on them) and let parents live up to the responsibility (or not) of dealing with that in a mature manner. If they're exposed to it and the conversation happens at age 4 or age 5 then so be it. I don't think it's harmful to a child whose parents aren't a freaks like mine, in which case they have bigger issues. ;) >>I >>gave my son a talk last year after a local girl developed >>a crush on >>him, >>to the effect that although I realized he wa too young for >>the talk, >>I'd >>rather give it too soon, and gee kid, you can get into a >>lot of >>trouble >>with sex that there is no getting you out of, so don't >>feel pressured >>to >>pair up at 13...peer pressure at school maybe? > I would argue that it is society in general that is > degrading, look at TV, music, movies and then wonder where > kids get this urge to become sexually active at a much > younger age then before. Don't forget steroids in milk and beef... and a diet consisting almost entirely of fast-food hamburgers... The average child's body matures a lot sooner in the US now than they did some years ago... I remember it being not all too uncommon when I was in junior-high to see 12 yr old girls wearing C-D cup braziers, and adults turning to me and saying "they didn't make them like that when I was your age". Which is another thing I seriously dislike about our country's social infrastructure, even though I'm still entirely against the recent anti-fast-food lawsuits. s. isaac dealey 972-490-6624 new epoch http://www.turnkey.to lead architect, tapestry cms http://products.turnkey.to tapestry api is opensource http://www.turnkey.to/tapi team macromedia volunteer http://www.macromedia.com/go/team certified advanced coldfusion 5 developer http://www.macromedia.com/v1/handlers/index.cfm?ID=21816 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
