Now this came as a brief surprise -
that Pat Robertson has investments in Liberia.

Not one of my favorite people, to say the least...

(this is another Dave Ross satire, BTW)

ROBERTSON
Praying for a miracle...

The Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling to decriminalize sodomy was the last straw.
Evangelist Pat Robertson says this will lead to gay marriage and other
depravity and so he's declared a 21-day prayer offensive designed to focus
divine will on the Court. Or more specifically, the three least-healthy members
of the Court -- in hopes that God will encourage them to retire.

To help guide God's hand he pointed out that one justice is 83 years old,
another has cancer, another has a heart condition.

I don't know -- that almost sounds like he's invoking a more permanent form of
retirement. But then Pat's been unhappy with the court for some time. Three
years ago, after the court ruled against public prayer in a Texas case, he
called it a "tyranny of an oligarchy," and said that Christians should "think
about revolt."
However, don't think for one moment that Pat is some kind of anarchist.

There is one authority figure he definitely does NOT want replaced, and who in
fact continues to receive his unwavering support. Liberian President Charles
Taylor.
Last week Pat Robertson scolded President Bush for trying to force Taylor out,
saying the US was "undermining a Christian, Baptist President to bring in
Muslim rebels." Not to mention that he and Taylor are partners in a Liberian
gold mining venture. But it actually makes sense.
Taylor is only an indicted war criminal who kills people. It's not like he'd
ever allow gay marriage.
