Do you think he messed with the BIOS? On some boards there is a Keystroke
command that will reset the BIOS back to default if you hold it down just
before POST. This is common on boards built for over clocking.

Well..the puter has been running fine for about three years now.
And I didn't make any changes.

Bad thing is...the last person to use the machine was my step brother
who 'visited' whilst I was in Mayaro over the last long weekend.

So I'm pissed at that..but I can't think what he could have done to
cause something like this..since this seems completely hardware based.

I will try over the weekend to solve the problem, first checking the
memory and then inserting the PCI video card and let you guys know how
it goes.

gel take it to a tech if you have them there!

same thing happened to me about 6 weeks ago!
i freaked out..

turned out that i used extra screws to mount the mb that where un-needed
& shorted out the video card & fan.. so without fan it wouldn't run
right...

spent a good 60 bucks at a mom & pop shop NOT a big corp. compu shop...
