I just played around until I found a channel that held the connection. You should also update your drivers from the Linksys website. I had all sorts of flakiness prior to doing so. (XP)
My configuration is a little different because I'm running a dual router system where one is wired and the other is not. However, your problem sounds more like intermittent interference.
