I have a very active mailing list I administer, and we tried to split it
off into different topics, since a number of users were getting annoyed
at the preponderance of some topics over others. That lasted a week
before we all got even more annoyed, and realized the one-list meme was
a lot easier on everyone.
I mention that since I think people think and respond in a natural way,
to the topic at hand. Multiple lists aren't particularly condicive to
streaming conversations, so you see a lot of crossover. Not to say you
should start a "Hey, I liked this movie" thread on CF-Talk, but I don't
see a big problem with some peanut gallery comments now and then, even
on a strictly tech-only list. Human nature.
