users credentials a go to see if it will logon... server then checks if this
user is allowed, if so then serves the page else says go away you need
authoritaah... browser then prompts user for login details...

Thanks Mike
will turning off anonymous access in IIS require them to log in to the
intranet, or will it just turn on grabbing their id?
(we want to keep the intranet "open" within the firewall, just restrict
access to certain CF apps based on parsing the userid.)
bb
you basically have to turn off anonymous access in IIS / webserver, then in
IE it should be passed through as CGI.AUTH_USER i beleive. If you leave
anonymous access on then this CGI var will be blank

Subject: OT: getting Windows userid
hi gang,
OK, I know how to code security within CF.
But I can't seem to find if/how you can grab the Windows 2000 userid from
the client pc from within CF (4.5.1 SP2).
??
Thanks.
