ok...wasn't sure if this would be OT for cf-talk...so figuring better safe than sorry, it goes here.

Project management.  I suck at it.  And I mean all aspects of it.  Couldn't suck worse.

The thought of me meeting a deadline is LAUGHABLE.  Obviously, I need to fix this.  I think the problem lies in the fact that I'm not able at any given point during the project to accurately estimate a % of the project that's complete / % still to be done.  If I could do this, I could at least forecast my failures and notify the customer as early as possible that I need to re-establish the deadline.  Of course, the goal would be to *not* have to re-establish the deadline...

Not sure if it's because i'm not adequately gathering requirements or establishing/setting milestones, what have you...but I need to improve in this area.  I need make a dramatic improvement, and fast.

Any good resources anybody can point me to?  I'm not necessarily looking for PM software...I'm more looking for ...GAH!  dunno :)

A book?  Something that outlines the processes that I'm obviously missing/skipping?

any info would be greatly appreciated.
Charlie

ps - just to illustrate how monumentally BAD I am at this...I meant to send this email out earlier in the week :)
