can do better than THAT...
I use an old-fashioned list. This helps when feeling overwhelmed because
writing it all down is like giving yourself permission to stop the little
internal memo that says "I should be (x)," which in my case at least has a
way of chiming in when I am working on y, which is higher priority. In
order for this to work you have to break projects down into manageable
chunks, in other words, register domain, write indx page, get permission
for artwork, etc. rather than just create website. I also find this helpful
because as you cross things off you can see that you are in fact getting
things done. I tend to feel like I am constantly knee-deep in stuff to do,
and if I can see that it is in fact different stuff all the time it helps
with that stress.
The other idea I had is that there is a type of flowchart for projects, and
I do not rememeber the name right now. But there is probably one or more
tasks in any given project on which others depend, and identifying it/them
and getting it done first will shorten project time.
hope that helps a little

I think the problem lies in the fact that I'm not able at any given point during the project to accurately estimate a % of the project that's complete / % still to be done. If I could do this, I could at least forecast my failures and notify the customer as early as possible that I need to re-establish the deadline. Of course, the goal would be to *not* have to re-establish the deadline...
