My favorite genre of comedy is "dark" - "Heathers", "War of the Roses",
"Throw Momma from the Train", "Death to Smoochy" "The Ref" - death,
hate, pain, revenge... all make for a rocking good time. The depths to
which people will descend can be twisted in to pointed satire and farce
in ways that simple observational comedy can't quite replicate.
I didn't think this short was funny either, but not for your reasons. I
just thought it was simply juvenile and frat-boyishly snarky, but not
particularly inventive.
