trouble with AOL like this about 9-10 months ago. Here is why they are
blocking it:
Let's say your mail server IP is 123.456.789.106 and you have
say...oh...12,000 clients on that mail server with the bulk of them
sending to AOL accounts for various reasons.
AOL sees 500,000 messages coming from 123.456.789.106 and thinks it's
spam. I mean...why else would someone send all that email? Gotta be
spam...right? (sarcasam)
I believe AOL has a whitelist they can add you to after they do some
verification on your mail server. You are going to have to get a high
level tech though to get you added.

I set up a site that is capable of sending automatic mailings to
registered users, and we are getting a lot of bouncebacks from AOL. The
specific reason provided is that the server has been repeatedly used to
transfer unsolicited bulk email. Not a good thing, and I need to solve
the problem.
Any ideas? The email is not coming from our domain, but we are on a
shared server and need to get the mail out.
