Probably has something to do with the ethnic part of the religions. Christianity
is a proselytizing religion that has abandon the 'tribal/family' aspect to
preach to all men. Judaism is still a family/tribal based religion where the
family is the most important component and connections between the family are
important in a huge amount of ways (prayer, marriage, etc.). Islam is still very
much a tribal/family based religion even though it is a proselytizing one. It
just accepts everyone into the family (some more than others).
In the beginning of Christianity they did call everyone brother and clergy still
do so. It's just out of fashion with the average Christian.
And the day a Greek Orthodox calls an Anglican brother may be the coming of the
Messiah. :)
