about the CMOS battery.
So I replaced it and now when I went to log on, it reported that the
CMOS setup had changed.
This is to be expected, so I said OK.
Now it would not boot in, so after this weekend trying to get it to
work, I decided to scrap to OS
and reformat, and re-install.
So I loaded up the boot disk for Windows XP Home. Began he installation
of Windows XP.
Now my problem is that it will get to about 25 minutes remaining and
lock up HARD. Meaning the
only way to reboot the machine is to hold the power button down for a
few seconds.
CTRL-ALT-DEL does nothing... The machine was working fine. I had the
updated McAfee virus
software and DAT files. So I ruled that out. For some reason it will
not finish the install.
Now I used the same Windows XP CD Rom and tested it on another machine
and it loaded fine.
Any sugegstions, why after a certain point it would cause the system to
lock up and no longer continue
the installation process? I am hoping someone has ran into this problem
before.
