A Web site that offers desktop applets for the Macintosh desktop is gearing
up to provide similar gadgets for Windows.
The site, called

launched in February and has attracted a wide following of Mac users drawn
to its _javascript_ applets, or "widgets," that tell the time, predict the
weather, monitor battery or central processing unit usage and track the
phases of the moon.

I've fooled around with this a bit on the iBook at home. Its pretty slick.
Given that it uses _javascript_ and XML, I imagine its possible to set up
CFMX powered small desktop widgets that could get stock or newsfeeds for
instance, or specific database queries. It has some interesting possibilities.
