In the very beginning they were saying that they wanted to build a
windows compatible OS. All those claims and promises quietly went away
before their first release. Now days their newsletter(s) do the occasional
push that they can open / read / modify Microsoft Office documents; but
promises that Windows software will run on their OS is long gone.
They haven't had an easy time fighting Microsoft in court; right now I
think they are being sued in every country they do business in. They had
some type of insurance against law-suits, but when Microsoft sued for
trademark infringement their insurance provider refused to put up any money
for them to fight the lawsuit. They sued the insurance provider and won;
but it looks like the Microsoft case(s) are going to take a lot longer to
settle.
