What I am looking for is the median, or average, of recent employees. I hear that Microsoft all but quit hiring permanent employees somewhere after 1995, not sure of the exact year. People hired before that date would have seniority and yeah, probably make quite a bit of money. People hired after that date would not be counted in the total as they were not "hired"... they are contract employess at a considerably lower rate. Of course, I conceivably hear wrong, but that would explain $27k in Richmond CA.
