I dont know if they have to, I beleive they do random checks and he was
unlucky.

As for when I was charged when I bought the item it stated that there may be
charges but I was charged by Royal Mail and not Customs and the packages
didnt look as if they had been tampered with.

You mean they HAVE to open your packages?  Then repackage them if it passes?

one of the last companies i worked for a guy ordered Debbie does Dallas
from
the states... all he got was a nice letter from Customs saying that he
wouldnt be getting (which i told him to frame :) )

I sometimes get charged for items coming in, but havnt had anything not
get
  through...

I suppose if your sending an alarm clock or something make sure it isnt
ticking when you send it ;)

Hey guys there's also another birthday coming soon, on jan 29, but she
lives
in the UK.  I was wondering if there are certain things I am not allowed
to
send.  Like she wants Polar Ice gum.  i also want to send her some exotic
canned fruits.  Also a naughty picture of myself.

any of these go through customs?
