I'm told for up to 2 years after the hip replacement,
I will have to consult the surgeon before having any dental work
(including routine cleanings), to see if they want me to
go on antibiotics first.
There is a small but distinct possibility that a bacterial
infection in the mouth can cause an infection in the
replaced joint.
