Since I'm an very much NOT a hardware type person, is there an easy way to tell by looking at a box if there their is a PCI video card inside it?

There is not any chance for me to do this if I have to ask for anything to be purchased.  But we are going through a fairly large move and upgrade so we have a room full of two or three dozen mildly to seriously ancient computers and monitors.  I'm free to cannibalize those if I like.  Is this even worth trying, are these cards (if any of these systems have PCI cards) going to be so out-of-date as to most likely not be compatible.  (I am also not free to spend days pulling and trial-and-error testing many cards).
