I was in the Navy from 85 to 90. To me the military was okay. Lots of great
travel experiences. There seemed to be two mindsets I found. One were the
people counting their days until they got out. And the other were the
lifers, trying their best to remain as comfortable as possible for as long
as possible. Out of all the lifers, I would say that 30 percent were really
good leaders who regular schmos like me looked up to and who did their best
to shield the regulars from the shite being dumped downhill from the
commissioned lifers. The rest were garbage. These are only my opinions, and
others may disagree.

All in all I think that the military is a good experience for young people
in our country and more should do it. Just make sure you keep your eyes open
about whats really going on.

I spent 4 years in the Navy and it was a serious life-changing experience
for me.
