I personally think it is wrong, regardless of the excuses or historic reasons.

AFAIK the law does not say you must have only French on the label, only that the French content must equal the content in the other language. A pain for small manufacturers in other countruies, but again, after surviving a few hundred years of attempts to stamp out the language, people feel strongly about encroachment by other cultures. Perhaps not admirable but understandable, and on the whole I agree with this law.
There probably is a bias against anglophones in the PQ. There are biases against francophones elsewhere. As I said earlier, it's a divided country.
It did not sound as though you were planning to withdraw the remark. Fine then, I merely think a little less of you. My rationale: I google "ethnic cleansing" and I find references to rape and genocide. This is not at all on the same scale as a couple of bigoted politicians.
