It was running this way in the office. Just before I left, data was
lost. My entire websites directory disappeared.
I just tried it on my machine at home where up until this morning it
worked beautifully, and it's the same thing. I am now checking my system
logs and at about 3AM this morning I see
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\D during a paging
operation.
So that just really sucks.
I guess this is a sure indication that the external hard disk is
failing?
This thing is less than a month old btw.
Any other suggestions? I thought perhaps the USB cable could have
magically gone bad?
I didn't know XP had a service pack 2.

Just thinking, are you running XP pro with service pack 2? I remember
reading that it did create some problems with USB2.0. I'll try and dig
up
the original eweek article.
