This has been 'round a couple of times.  The newest security concerns
are that it doesn't actually delete email.  It still stores it, but
(from what I've heard) it isn't accessible and doesn't count toward your
gig.

Seems to me, though, that this behavior isn't that different from your
hard drive.  Just more paranoia-inducing.
