business mailings for various companies over the years,
"To whom it may concern" Works wonderfully and is accepted business
practice.
Either that or
"Good Day!"
"Greetings!"
No gender anything needed.
What turns you off does not necessarily turn off others.
People really don't get hung up on the greeting - in this day and age,
"most" pass it by, to scan the bulk of copy and then decide to dismiss
it or keep it. You would do better with your time by concentrating on
the body of whatever it is you are trying to do to make sure people
don't summarily dismiss that than worrying about whether or not someone
is a "miss" or "mister".
I know several female "Charlie's" - and if you addressed something to
them as Mr., they'd be pissed and throw it away.
Why risk it?
Cheers,
Erika
