Without getting into marketing double speak, the sponsoring hosting company would need to spell out their service plans and why they are better then the next guy.  Generally I go with hosting companies that are in a certain price range that offers the most clearly explained benefits and limits of their plans.  If I can not get a very good understanding of what I can and can not do with a plan in a few minutes of perusing of a site then I'm moving on to someplace more informative.


Then comes referrals.  I like to here from others who have used the service and what their opinion is.
