I think it would be totally unfair to NOT hire someone because they used
manuals!
In programming, it is very hard to keep all the syntax rules, key words,
methods, etc in order, especially if you are involved in many languages. I
would be more interested in the persons understanding of fundamental
programming concepts and understanding of how to implement the concepts.
Manuals are a fact of life for us in the programming world, LIVEDOCS is a
manual, just an online one.
I know a lot of "programmers" who say they don't need manauls.... That's
because they need a text book to learn the basic programming fundamentals.
