CF, being tag-based, is definitely unlike other languages, but it IS
remarkably like HTML.  The learning curve therefore depends upon your
background and is definitely NOT flat.

Also CF provides you the ability to use C++/Java/_javascript_ syntax for much
of the language via CFSCRIPT.

Also since they mention that there are many components "readily available"
for .NET it would be worth noting here what you get "out of the box" with
CF.  Namely immediate support for SMTP, POP3, FTP, HTTP, and LDAP; full
access and use, immediately, of any standard Java class or package, access
to COM and CORBA objects; many pre-defined form widgets; a useful charting
engine; a top-of-field search engine and so forth.

NOTHING compares to CF on the out-of-the-box support and extension level.
NOTHING.

Subject: RE: ColdFusion VS ASP Point 2

Point 2: Rapid Application Development and Learning Curve

ColdFusion
The language constructs are new and unlike any other programming language,
so the learning curve is flat.

VisualStudio.NET
One can use either VB or C+, with C+ being the more popular.  A programmer
knowing either one of these languages can be productive right away.

A lot of components are readily available. For a small application, this is
plug and play.
