Hullos Katie !

Well, with XP you need to install IIS5. That should be on the XP
Professional CD. If it isn't then.errm..I guess you need to download
some sort of free webserver for Windows XP.
Then install CFMX evaluation version from the macromedia site. That
should be about 150MB (if you don't have the CD that is, and if you do
have the cd you may still need the download to bring it up to the most
recent CFMX build). It should pick up the webserver you installed and
work as you would expect.

Alternately I think without a webserver you can use the CFMX built in
webserver for development purposes, but I've read over on CF-TALK that
they advice against using this, and it's much preferred to use a
standalone webserver.

All the other extras such as MySQL etc. you install and run as usual if
you need them. :-)

Hope this helps!

Sorry to ask a technical question, but I've been out
of the CF game for a few years and am not sure how to
set up new OS's and CFMX for localhost development.

Previously, on NT or 2k I would install Microsoft
Personal Web Server, but I was not able to find it on
the microsoft site, and so far haven't found where
(if?) XP has web services enabled.  I'm wanting to set
up a situation where I can view CFM from
http://127.0.0.0/mysite/index.cfm.

TIA,

Katie
