Hi Ghansham: I believe specific CF conventions were established for swath data a few years back. These conventions assume a lat/lon is captured for every data point. The inability/undesirability to store lat/lon for every data point for many applications was not addressed. Although I have not done homework, I have thought an algorithm specification with accompanying parameters could get the job done.
