Specific Job Description: Performs Java software development as a member of the Veterans Administration (VA) Home Telehealth Infrastructure Enhancements (HTIE) project, which was chartered by the Office of Information and Technologys Product Development group to enhance the information technology infrastructure supporting the Home Telehealth program. Applies extensive knowledge of J2EE software development and VA domain knowledge to develop enhancements to the Integrated Home Telehealth Application and other HTIE work products. Works on cross-functional agile teams with analysts, testers, and other developers. Work products will be peer reviewed by other members of the HTIE Team and the System Architect. Performs work that is planned in sprints, which are the 4 - 6 week time-boxed development increments common to agile projects. Reports to the HP Project Manager, but carries out to work assignments made by the Project Manager or the System Architect. Specific Experience/Skills: 1. 10+ years software development experience (Required) 2. 7+ years J2EE experience (Required) 3. Solid understanding of and experience with Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) concepts (Required) 4. Knowledge of/experience with Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) (Required) 5. Knowledge of/experience with agile software development (Required) 6. Proven ability to collaborate with a technical lead and fellow developers on tactical design considerations, testing challenges, and deployment specifics (Required) 7. Proven ability to accomplish complex development tasks with little or no supervision (Required) 8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and desire to learn (Required) 9. Extensive experience with all or most of the following technologies: a. Java Standard Edition (JSE) Version 5 or higher (Required) b. Java Entreprise Edition (JEE) Architecture, including the following (Required): i. Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) ii. Java Messaging Service (JMS) iii. Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) iv. Java Server Pages (JSP) v. Java Persistent API (JPA) vi. Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) c. Adobe Flex Framework/Adobe FlashBuilder (Required) d. Spring Framework including Spring Web Flow, Spring Web Services, and Spring Blaze DS Integration (Required) e. Hibernate Framework, specifically its implementation of the JPA (Required) f. User interface frameworks such as Spring Web Flow and Struts 2 (Required) g. HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and Javascript (Required) h. Apache Common Libraries such as Ant, Maven, JUni, Collection libraries, and the Jasper Report library (Required) i. Rules Engines and Work Flow Engines such as JBoss Drools and JBoss Business Process Manager (jBPM) (Required) j. Relational Databases (Oracle and SQL Server preferred) (Required) k. Oracle Weblogic Portal and/or BEA Weblogic Application Server (Desired) l. TestNg or JUnit (Desired) 10. Knowledge of HP-developed agile methodologies used within the VA (Highly Desired) 11. Rational Tools Clear Quest, Clear Case, XDE (Highly Desired) 12. Experience with the Scrum agile software development methodology (Desired) 13.
