one thing that I used in my favor when I had little professional
experience in web design and programming back in 1995 or so was that I
created several sites on Geocities which I used as part of my portfolio
for web design. My job at that point was only one visually unimpressive
site, so this was a chance to put a real portfolio together. I found in
interviews that what I lacked in on-paper experience, I made up for in
ability. There is no free hosting service for CF-based sites, but
perhaps one could build an intranet-type application and use that as the
sample code that one submits with a resume?
