I would hope we would all exercise caution on both sides of this important
question.
First off there's waaaay toooo much paranoia about being sued for libel.
Most courts have a very healthy respect for the first amendment and throw
out a lot of libel cases on simple lack of merit. Second, at least in this
country the "truth" is an iron clad defense against libel or slander. So
long as what you say is true (with very few exceptions) you have a RIGHT to
say it, and the world is usually better off if you do (especially future
deadbeat victims).
Now on the other side of the question. It is a shame that the
www.mybosssucks.com site doesn't fulfill the function that is really needed
of providing feedback -- pro and con -- on any or all people with whom you
might do business -- whether employers, employees, or parties to any
business relationship. That's what's really needed -- not just a place for
anonymous sniping. Such a system of feedback would work best when NOT
anonymous -- and we could judge the credibility of the accuser (or
commender) as well as the accused.
This is another web site that I've been meaning to do for several years, so
if someone is so inclined, and has the resources to do it right now,
please take this as encouragement (do let me know if you want me involved
:)). Such "unbiased" feedback on people (and businesses) with whom we enter
into commercial relations would be quite valuable to anyone contemplating
such a decision, and both parties would probably be willing to pay a little
for some reliable, responsible help in that area.
