Hi, I sent this email to Adam only, but meant for it to go to the list, and
maybe it'll be helpful to you:

> All UK contracts can be got through www.jobserve.com and I do mean all.

A fair few that don't even exist go there as well!!!
One unscrupulous recriutment company seems to post a bunch of attractive
sounding contracts about once a week, but try and speak to the "person" who
posted the jobs, the agency always say sorry the CF job has gone, even
though you haven't enquired about a particular one....

> UK CF contract rates are NOT 30 an hour. You are selling yourself cheap.
> You should be looking for a minimum of 50 an hour and if you consider
> yourself senior then you should be on at least 60+ an hour within the
> South East.

I've just entered the contract market in the UK and what you are saying is
the ideal... It's sooo quiet at the moment, when I told one agent I wanted
minimum 50 an hour, he laughed at me and said "who do I think I am? Adam
Reynolds?" (seriously, I nearly fell off my chair!)

I've finally managed to get myself a contract at a decent rate, but only a
very short term one (10 days) so I have serious doubts about the UK CF
contracting market.

Also David, you've basically got to set yourself up as a Limited company,
otherwise no agency will give you work. This is because it removes from them
the liability of checking your tax status....
